This is still 4th generation Apple iPod Shuffle (from wikipedia, this new color refresh is still under 4th generation category). This product is small, actually very small. I know you can use your iPhones or Androids and even get more storage space than this, but shuffle has a different target of users, mostly for active and on the go users. This is perfect for exercising, running, walking, etc. Just clip it to your shirt and your ready to go. If your the type of user who wants to put all your mp3s to your mp3 player, then you might want to find a different player thas has larger capacity , as this one has only 2gb of space. You should still be able to put hundreds of songs here especially if your songs bitrate compression is not very high. Some of the basic functionalities: Shuffle switch Left - shuffle music Middle - play in order Right - turn off VoiceOver button Single click - hear current track and artist Single click and hold - hear playlist menu. It is surprisingly light and slim, especially considering the fullness, crispness, and volume of the sound that it produces. I have not been disappointed, particularly at this price point. Features that I really like: 1. Dual voltage, which is great for overseas travel. 2. Comes with power adapter. 3. AUX-IN capability has been very useful for plugging in to my laptop for movies. 4. They did away with the iPod inserts, and the design ingeniously allows whatever iPod you insert to rest against a back stop, so that you aren't stressing the connector when you push on the iPod to control it. 5. Remote is simple on features but works very well even when not pointed directly at the unit. Features that could still be improved: 1. The carry case is more like a dust cover. It is made from the same material those re-usable grocery bags are made from. I am not complaining that it doesn't come with something more substantial at this price, but I do hope that Logitech or some other manufacturer makes something with padding for those of us who travel a lot. I'd be happy to purchase it as an accessory. 2. The AC adapter would be even better if the prongs folded in, as many travel adapters do. 3. You can't use an iPod touch that has a case on it. The docking area narrows toward the bottom making the width a problem--even with slim fitting cases. This just means you have to have a case that comes off easily or one that has a detachable bottom. Overall I give this a 5 star rating. I waited about a month and a half for this to be released based on initial industry industry reviews (CNET, etc.) and features; I am not disappointed. The sound is great. It is portable. It looks good. It is not extremely expensive. Those all add up to a real winner. I own a Bose Sound Dock (original) and feel that the sound is better on that speaker system--fuller bass and it fills the room a bit better, however the price was double and it is not portable. I hate ear buds (hate them!) as they are seemingly designed for people w/LARGE ear holes! These things are tiny, fit nicely IN your ear and provide great sound without annoying you on a long run! The price is fabulous too! Last time I ordered, I bought 4 pairs (whenever I like something it seems to be discontinued) and I just broke into pair #2 this week (after almost a year w/the others). All the reviews claiming that these headphones are indistinguishable from the original headphones that came with their iphone must not be looking very hard. These headphones are don't use whatever anti-tangle tech that the original iphone headphones use. The wire on my original headphones feels rubbery, responsive, and soft, the wire on these headphones feels plastic-y and flat and is prone to tangle. The actual earbuds are different too. You can see through the grill into the hardware beneath which I can't do with my original headphones. They didn't come with any Apple manual either. So don't believe that lie. On the positive side, the mic does work as advertised and the sound quality isn't too bad. For the reduced price they're decent enough. Too bad these didn't work. I couldn't get them to connect with either my iPhone, iPad or laptop via bluetooth, even after trying several times. UPDATE: 5/31/12 After leaving the above review, the seller emailed me with the correct instructions on connecting the earbuds via bluetooth, which worked. The instructions included say to hold down the button until the light flashes, then release. However, you need to hold down the button until it flashes red, then blue, red, then blue, at which time the device should show up to be synced. The language on the printed instructions need to be updated so that they reflect the this. Customer service was proactive and emailed me twice to make sure that I had the correct instructions, as well as offered to return or exchange the item. The earbuds work great! Good audio and microphone quality. I have been on this quest for years as I am always never without my mp3 player or radio. I am rough on headphones and go through them fairly regularly. So I am always trying to find inexpensive headphones that sound better than my previous set (Skullcandy Ink'd). This time, after carefully reading reviews, I purchased 3 different headphones at once, all in the same price range (Under $15.00): The Panasonic RP-HJE120-A (Blue), The Skullcandy Jib, and The 2XL Spoke (Bounty Hunter Collection). My conclusions were that the 2XL Spoke were adequate, but a distant third place. While the 2XL had definitively better bass than the Skullcandy Ink'd, the 2XL's mids and highs were only adequate. The Skullcandy Jib completely blew the Scullcandy Ink'd away, with much better bass, mids and highs, I thought I found what I had been looking for, that my quest had ended. But there was still the Panasonic RP-HJE120 to listen to. I must say I had little expectation for these after listening to the Skullcandy Jib's. But what was this? Immediately the Panasonic's sounded impressive. After listening to them for a while, I listened to the Jib's again. I honestly preferred the cleaner sound of the Panasonic RP-HJE120, and the Ergo design was a plus, the fit was just so comfortable. So there you have my layman's evaluation of these three headsets and my hands down recommendation for the Panasonic RP-HJE120 (I got the Blue, however, I very much doubt that your color choice will affect the sound).
